I spent an entire day on the front lines of Aleppo with a group of Free Syrian Army fighters in early 2013. As we headed back to the apartment building where our translator lived he suggested we stop and talk to some snipers he knew.
When we walked into the abandoned elementary school, where the small group of snipers set up camp, I could hear people running and yelling.
Everything had been so serious on the front lines that day, so I was surprised to find the fighters playing a pick-up game of football In the middle of the building’s courtyard.
Even in the middle of a revolution, people find time for football.
